Latin Name Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil
INCI Name Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil
Type of Ingredient Antioxidant
History Vitamin E has had an important role in skincare for centuries and will be included in almost every type of skincare in some form. Vitamin E can either be natural (the type that we use) or synthetic.
Key Benefits

Vitamin E is used primarily in very small quantities to stop peroxides forming in skincare blends, slows down oxidation, ensuring that the product stays fresh for the longest possible time. Even though it is not a preservative it helps the product stay fresh for as long as possible.

Vitamin E in skincare also helps the skin itself to retain moisture and can help protect from the effects of sun and environmental damage. Vitamin E is usually used in very small doses to maintain the quality of the product and although it does have skincare benefits, vitamin E is an oil and is best used on very dry skin or used as part of a moisturising formulation.
